Jakarta (Pendis) – Religious moderation is always being carried out with quite effort by Ministry of Religious Affairs. In Islamic Higher Education, for instance, this effort is not only the insertion in the subject course, but in the form of research and community service. The students are carrying the theme of religious moderation as the implementation of Higher Education Tridharma.
One of the ways is conducting National Collaborative of Kuliah Kerja Nyata/KKN (Students’ Community Service) with the theme of religious moderation. IAIN Fattahul Muluk Papua volunteered to be the organiser and the location for this KKN.
Students from outside of Papua can learn the characteristic and practice the religious moderation in Papua. So when they are back, they will bring positive vibes and energy to their surroundings.
“They are also able to tell the daily life of religious moderation in Papua and spread the positive values in their homeland.” Said the rector of IAIN Fattahul Muluk, Hamid Al-Idrus in Jakarta.
The General Director of Islamic Education, Muhammad Ali Ramdhani agrees with the name of this KKN. “I reckon it is appropriate to call it the National Collaborative Community Service for Religious Moderation (KKN KNMB). Besides bringing up the issue of religious moderation, KKN participants are from all religious higher education, and it is possible for students from Christian, Catholic, Buddhist and Khonghucu higher education to participate as well.” He said.
The Director of Islamic Higher Education (Diktis), Suyitno, adds that National Collaborative KKN can be the starting point of KKN based on Merdeka Belajar – Kampus Merdeka (KKN MBKM) with religious moderation as the theme.
“It is possible that other themes will appear.” He explained.
The Sub-Directorate of Research and Community Service Coordinator, Suwendi conveyed a number of requirements to participate in the KKN-KNMB. Beside academically eligible, get guardian’s permission, the participant must be an activist, unmarried, physically and mentally healthy, and also possessed the ability to write.
“It is essential for participants to possess the ability to write, in order to disseminate their experience in journal article, book, seminar and other publications,” revealed Suwendi.
KKN-KNMB planned to be conducted from July – August 2022 in Jayapura Regency and City also in Kerom Regency. Directorate General of Islamic Education asked all of the organisers in Papua to ensure the activities running smoothly.
