UIN Walisongo Students Build Moderation Park on the Border of Indonesia – Papua New Guinea

Semarang (Pendis) – Head of LP2M Community Service of UIN Walisongo Semarang appreciated Papua Community Service team that succeed to build Moderation Park at the border of Indonesia (IDN) and Papua New Guinea (PNG). “Moderation Park built by Community Service (KKN) Collaboration Team of UIN Walisongo and other members from other institutions strengthen the spirit of tolerance and harmony for all Indonesian citizen” said Rikza in the office of LP2M, Saturday (27/08/2022).

Yanwar Pratama, student of Islamic Education Management of Education Faculty, KKN delegation from UIN Walisongo Semarang joined in the team that contributed to build the Moderation Park in the border area. The inaguration of Moderation Park was proceeding at the front yard of Al-Aqsa mosque, Transad St. , Skouw Sae Village, Muratami District, Jayapura City, Papua Province on Tuesday (23/08/2022).

“The increased extremist, radicalism, and intolerant ideology is rooted on religious multicultures, cultures, races, languages and tribes” said Yanwar who is also the leader of Walisongo English Club. So, being moderate, he continued, is the solution. Knowing that Skouw Sae village has 2 major religions, Christian and Islam, Moderation Park is hoped to be the symbol of harmony in the village. Beside that, one of our aims is to raise the nature resources potential in this village, one of them is coconut. Our hope is to increase the economy in the area because this location is potentially strategic for local, national and international tourists who are traveling to IDN-PNG by cars.

This activity was welcomed and officially inagurated by head of Religious affairs office Jayapura City, Abdul Hafid Yusuf. He said that it is the concrete proof of the effort to resolve the struggle of the locals and taking the most from available opportunities.

“We truly appreciate the KKN KNMB Skouw Sae team that has been succeed to build Moderation Park. It is in accordance with the multicultural of people in this village. Besides, it is also able to increase the local economy using the potential of existing nature resources. We hope it is the best step to help the country and beneficial for people” said Abdul Hafid Yusuf.

The existence of the Moderation Park is very beneficial for the locals. La Failu, public figure and the imaam of Al-Aqsa mosque is also proud because of the presence of KKN KNMB Skouw Sae 2022 team that has given a right solution and based on the condition of the locals in the village.

“Thank you so much for the KKN team that has been fighting for this village. We hope we’re able to optimise this” Said La Failu.

The Ondoafi of Skouw Sae village, David Lomo is also giving his appreciation. “As the Ondoafi of Skouw Sae village, I thank our brothers and sisters who are already fighting to find the right solution for us.” Said David Lomo.
