Washington (Pendis) – Islamic State University (UIN) Raden Fatah Palembang conducting a program and cooperation with Thunderbird School of Global Management Arizona State University at Washington DC, USA.

The Vice Indonesian Ambassador for United States of America, Sade Bimantara was greeting the delegation from UIN Raden Fatah joyfully. He admitted that it is the first visit from religious higher education ever.

“Welcome to Washington DC USA. Here’s our home, Indonesian home in the USA. I am so grateful for the first time visit ever from religious higher education, especially from Sumatera” Sade greets them in Washington, Friday (23/07/2022).

UIN Raden Fatah’s Chancellor, Nyayu Khodijah says that the visit from her team to Washington DC is to conduct several agendas with Thunderbird School of Global Management Arizona State University (ASU), from signing MoU, leadership training, though leadership program with Nat Geo, discussion with World Bank until lecture and collaboration with IMAAM Center.

“We are encouraging the goal of our institution’s international vision. So, we must conduct the cooperation with foreign higher education and other institutions as well. Alhamdulilah, all of our planned programs are running smoothly. Even, currently we are accompanied by our partner, Professor Landry Signe from ASU,” said Nyayu.

Nyayu said that one of the missions that carried out in this visit in gaining more scholarship opportunities to facilitate students or lecturers to be able to continue their study abroad. The light of that mission is already present and it will be executed as soon as possible.

According to Nyayu, this visit is to expand the connection of UIN Raden Fatah and the intention to send students and also lecturers to continue their studies.

“All this time, the problem for us to send our students abroad is fee and access. We seek solution for those and we hope that this visit is gaps that we can fill,” she explained.

Indonesian Education and Culture Attaché, Poppy Rufaidah is happy to acknowledge UIN Raden Fatah’s idea to develop their institution in order to realise their international vision.

“We, from the Indonesian Embassy in the US are ready to facilitate all those needs. We will be taking care of the scholarship opportunity, the important thing is UIN can prepare their students and ensure their quality in foreign language as well,” Poppy explained.

Poppy hopes that what has been agreed and planned will continue in concrete way. Even Indonesian Embassy ready to facilitate if there is another collaboration that will be carried out.

“If necessary, increase the number of our students studying in the US,” she hoped.

The Executive Director of Thunderbird School of Global Management from Arizona State University, Professor Landry Signe welcomed this cooperation well, “We are already conduct the MoU with UIN Raden Fatah and we are committed to make it happen,” he said.

“Let’s communicate, and as long as fits our standard, Thunderbird is ready to accept. We have Master and PhD programs and we are proud to accept students from UIN Raden fatah,” he concluded.

Delegation from UIN Raden Fatah led directly by Nyayu Khodijah as the Chancellor has already been conducting the visit with a series of activities since July 18th 2022. The visit is scheduled to end on July 25th and then departs again for the country.
